On the desk today, we have a Fox Racing Shox 2.0 Pro Series 2.0 shock with remote reservoir. These shocks have a Smooth-bore seamless alloy body, and 5/8" Alloy steel, heat treated, and hard chrome plated shaft. They also feature 12" of travel (and come in other lengths as well) along with Teflon-lined heat-treated alloy steel spherical bearings for mounting, which should last much longer than a factory poly bushing. These can be ordered however you need them to be tuned, and can be rebuilt should any internal components ever wear out reducing the costs of your shocks in the long term.
